Thank You

The 10th annual KISH Band Candle light dinner held on February 13, 2010 at the New London Community Complex was a huge success. A full house was on hand for the 5 course Roast beef dinner.
A beautiful evening of music performed by Angela Profits’ KISH Jazz band, student individual performers and “ARIOSO” performed featuring Angela Profit (KISH music director) and Heather Coulson who created the Candle Light Dinner.
Many thank you’s are rewarded, I am truly sorry if I have forgotten anyone:

“ARIOSO”
All those who performed on stage.

Jazz Band members re: Candlelight Dinner

To all Jazz Band members;

For those who have been at many Candlelight Dinners you are familiar with the day. For those who are not familiar the setup for the day is:

Saturday, Feb. 13th, will involve moving equipment in the morning and a practise at the Complex. This all starts at 9am at KISH with moving equipment. I am wondering who can help with a van and/or truck to take the drumset, piano, and conga drums. Other vehicles will be needed to take music stands and auxilary equipment(amps). If you can help out here, please e-mail/phone me back. Thank you in advance.

Saturday, in the morning, I will need students to the school to help load equipment then it is off to the New London Community Complex. Students will need to get to the complex on their own. There is no bus available.

We will setup equipment on the stage at the complex and then have a practise until 12 noon. For those students who are performing NOT with the Jazz Band, we will run through you songs at 12 noon.

Jazz Band students are asked to come back to the complex for 5:30pm dressed in your Jazz band uniform. I have 2 jazz band vests in my office left from the Christmas Concert, also a white band shirt and 2 green vest. We will reconvene on stage for a warmup and partial run through of some of the songs until 6:10pm.

At 6:30pm we will perform on stage for 20 minutes approximately. Then at 7:05 the singing group Arioso will perform on stage while the patrons are eating dinner. The sax quintet will perform 3 songs on stage around the serving of dessert. After the sax quintet performs, individual/group performing will perform. The evening ends with the Jazz Band performing 10 to 12 songs on stage.

At the end of the evening, Jazz Band members/parents will be needed to help pack up equipment and load equipment into vehicles and then unloaded back into the school.

Many hands make light work. It is hoped that the end of the evening will go as smooth as the beginning of the evening. Your help with the movement of equipment back to the school will be appreciated.

Wishing you all a good day and weekend.

A. Profit
KISH Music Director

Intermediate Honours Band members for 2010

To all KISH Intermediate Honours Band members, congratulations on your participation in the 2010 P.E.I. Intermediate Honours Band weekend. Even though the weekend had to be postponed, it did not dampen your spirits or excitement. This past weekend proved that the snow could not keep you away from the wonderful performances at the Confederation Center in Charlottetown or at the Harbourfront Jubilee Theatre in Summerside. Both concerts were recorded, so Honour Band students you will receive a CD of the performances. Well done!

Musically yours,

A. Profit
KISH Music Director

Intermediate Honours Band weekend storm plan update

Notice to Teacher's, Honors Band Members and their parents:

From: Frank Nabuurs, Peter Gallant, Rowan Fitzgerald

The Honors Band Weekend plans have been disrupted by unforseen weather events. As near as we can gather from available reports, things will improve by tomorrow morning. After considering the option of postponing the event to next weekend and looking at what we may be able to salvage from this weekend, we believe the best options for maximum student participation would be to continue plans for this weekend. With that in mind we have decided the following: We will cancel rehearsals for Friday evening but plan to start our rehearsal schedule Saturday morning at 9:30 AM with registration at the Simmons entrance of Queen Charlotte Intermediate at 9:00 AM. We are aware that weather/road conditions can vary greatly across the island so the decision WHEN or IF to travel must reside with parents. We would love to have every student at Queen Charlotte tomorrow. If you are unable to make the 9 am start, we would be happy to have you join the rehearsal as soon as you can safely make it.

Please be certain to bring instrument, music, gym clothes and black pants for your uniform if you are not returning home prior to Sunday's performance. We also need unsold tickets and or ticket money.

The following is a link to Peter Gallant's SIS website that everyone can use to stay up to date on any possible changes to our plans. Please check it throughout the day today and before leaving for Queen Charlotte tomorrow morning for any possible changes or important information.

ADL FUNDRAISER

"ADL FUNDRAISER" - DEADLINE WILL BE JANUARY 15TH.
The PRODUCT will be at the school on February 9th between 3-5pm.
IT IS A MUST FOR PICK UP !!

Notes for students and parents for candlelight Dinner 2010

Notes for students and parents for candlelight Dinner 2010

1. Tickets will be given out in morning band.

2. Money MUST be in by January 22 (Friday’s Band)

3. If you cannot collect the money from the customer, write a check to KISH Band and then collect the money later from your customer. This prevents the * waiting * for money which holds up the process of ticket sales.

4. This must be done on Friday since exams begin the next week.

5. Get your customers to put their names on their tickets. This will qualify them for door prizes on the night of the dinner.

6. Cindy Ramsay will be at the band every morning this week and next week to collect money and/or tickets.

7. We MUST know right away if you will not be selling your tickets in order to re-issue tickets to another seller.

8. Cindy & I will begin a waiting list for tickets once money has been passed in on tickets already outstanding with a student.

9. I do not want to be chasing students for money and/or tickets. Please be at band on time so we can deal with this in an organized fashion .

10. If you have any questions, call me at 836-4198 OR see Cindy Ramsay in her classroom.

11. This is a great fund-raiser and has been very successful in the past, please, let’s all do our best to make it another wonderful night for all involved.

Thank you
Heather Tuplin
